True Conquerors and Losers

Good morning!

This morning we had the snow world with already looking like the half moon, quickly shifting from the full moon after some cloudy days. We have now the bright beautiful sun.

Dogen’s poem titled Prostration is:

No winter grass being seen,

The white heron in the snowfield

Hides itself

In its own form.

The white heron became one with the white world in its own true nature. When we sit still and serene, we become one with the dharma world, colorless and cloudless.

Before I came here I forwarded an article, actually an open letter, by the 17th Gyalwan Karmapa, a religious leader, titled Building Mutual Trust Between Tibetans and Chinese.

He was totally moved by the three Tibetan monks setting fire on themselves in one day, some ten already this year, to make themselves the dharma lights for the entire world.

People, especially in power and in China, should obey Confucius’ advice to attain trust, beyond food, further beyond military might, prevailing not only millennia but forever.

Those who become slaves of matter and power are already losers of limitless life, light, liberation and love. Those who attain truth and peace in mind and life are true conquerors.
