Good Day Every Day

Good morning!

We now have the beautiful bright sun in a cloudless autumn sky. Like the sun or the full moon in the clear calm sky the awakened mind illuminates the whole world.

The Buddha said,

Better than the one who would live one hundred years not seeing birth and death is the one who would live one day seeing birth and death.

Better than the one who would live one hundred years not seeing immortality is the one who would live one day seeing immortality.

Better than the one who would live one hundred years not seeing the highest dharma is the one who would live one day seeing the highest dharma.

Only by practice or constant continuous cultivation, sitting solid and stopping karma, can we see nirvana, unconditioned peace, and unsurpassed awakening.

So, Dogen said that cultivation and verification are one. Without cultivation we can’t witness immortality or the highest dharma. Only practice makes perfect.

Thus we can enjoy the ultimate peace and truth, holy goodness and beauty, living on joy – a good day every day.
