Two Kinds of Goodness

Good evening!

Man is said to be the lord of all creation. Humans have evolved and developed their bodies and brains, advancing sciences and technologies, and thus becoming the lords of all creatures and creation. But, unfortunately, all living beings are karma machines, so to speak – seemingly driving the tread wheel, but actually driven by karma and a small, selfish, survival instinct.

In Buddhism, there are two kinds of goodness: defiled and undefiled, or wholesome and unwholesome – whole and partial, selfless and selfish goodness, or justice, or truth, or whatever. Only when we stop this karma machine, can we go beyond selfishness to see and act in wholly wholesome goodness, justice, or truth.

So, for the future of humankind – and actually, for the future of the whole life system – it is essential to stop karma, sitting in an immovable, solid state and achieving unconditioned peace and unsurpassed awakening. That is the state of the full moon (??: full function) when it illuminates all, clear and calm, wholly wholesome.

I hope humankind can find this truth and achieve the gigantic and great task of seeing fair and far enough, acting freely and fully.
