Constant, Continuous Cultivation in Cutting Karma

Good evening!

We are at the equinox. The equinox is called higan in Japanese, the other shore, meaning nirvana, the windless state of karma. Only when we stop karma can we reach equanimity, or nirvana.

That’s why the Buddha and all the buddhas, awakened ones, have practiced sitting still and serene, stopping karmas constantly and continuously for their whole lives.

Even though a water jet can cut a metal plate, it can’t if it stops. Even if sitting can cut karmas, it can’t if we stop sitting or cultivating.

If we want to realize nirvana and unsurpassed awakening therein, we can’t stop cultivating and witnessing them. Only by continuous practice can we taste amrita, ambrosia/immortality.
