Practice of Bodhisattva Mahasattva

Good evening!

We had a very hot day today, and we worked together amidst heat and humidity, sweating good sweat.

Now we breathe good breaths in zazen. Then we find our world in peace, harmony, and truth with all. We become good friends with them.

Thus, we can have the four embracing matters, or four Brahma-vihâra, holy residence: giving, loving words, beneficial actions, and sameness.

In our ordinary daily lives we forget how much we owe to countless people and limitless things – our births, breathing, eating, clothing, dwelling, ancestors, animals, and plants.

This practice reminds us of the grace of them, and our gratitude for them. This is a rare, and possibly even the last chance to repay for the grace of all.

This is the good practice of awakening to it, sweating good sweat, breathing good breaths, and making good friends.

Today’s practice changes our lives into more insightful and compassionate ones. Let us work the coming days, practicing the bodhisattva-mahâsattva, awakening being-great being, way.
