Freedom is Familiarity and Friendship-domain

Good morning!

The temperature is now 86 degrees, which is going up to 102 degrees with a heat index
of 111 degrees. The heat warning has been extended until tomorrow.

The news from Japan reported that the Nagasaki Peace Proclamation on the 9th of
August would include abolishing nuclear power. The Fukushima City citizens are asking
their government officers if they can have healthy life for their families.

We live in one common world. Thus when we have global warming, nuclear disasters,
etc., we are all affected. We have the right to live a healthy and peaceful life, free from fear
of problems and sufferings.

Freedom is not a licentious selfish freedom, but holy (wholly wholesome) familiarity
and “friendly domain,”. This is shown through the words
(friendship-domain, Greek) and priya-dhâman (beloved dome, Sanskrit).

So we must not only ask for the right of a holy, healthy harmony, but also fulfill the
responsibility to realize it so that all beings can appreciate it. We must be awakened and
act accordingly together with all.
