Flowering Mind

Good morning!

When I came back last night from a short trip toJapanto meet my brother, who is seriously ill, I found a big, beautiful bouquet presented by Kodo (廣道, spreading the way, or wide way).

When I came here to sit zazen this morning, I saw beautiful flowers and bountiful autumn grasses in our garden, with abundant insects singing and the full moon above clouds, presented by nature.

Flowers blooming, the world is arisen. Flowers fall in lamentation. Life is so short, so let us bloom and offer our flowers to the world. Offering flowers is flowers offered.

Dogen made the following poem on offering flowers to Buddhas in past, present, and future, and himself offered abundant flowers limitlessly in time and space:

This mind providing

Flowers in space

I would offer to Buddhas

In the Three Times.
