Haste or Rest

The wind chill index is 10 degrees, so it is very difficult to distinguish black ice from water. If I had left for the center at my regular time, not taking into account the additional time needed to navigate an icy road on the turn from Ladue Road onto Lindbergh Boulevard, I could have collided with another car.

However, because I left home just a few minutes earlier than usual, I could enjoy a bountiful, beautiful snow scene driving through the park, taking a slightly longer route to the center on Park Road. Now we can sit in peace, calm and clear. One’s karma-drive is dangerous and deadly in birth and death. Still sitting is safe and serene, beyond birth and death. Haste makes waste; rest makes best. Samsara is deadly; nirvana is deathless.

Let’s take time to sit in unconditioned peace and unsurpassed awakening to enjoy beauty, goodness, holiness, and happiness here and now!
