Pseudo-system Syndrome

Good morning!

This morning I received news of the anniversary of the Nagasaki nuclear bombing from Japan. The New York Times had an article about the nuclear disaster in Japan: the government’s mishandling of the radiation plume prediction caused radiation damage to people. We all know about the economic disaster going around the world. These are due to our ignorance and inability.

Behind all of these disasters are the myths of militarism, materialism, and me-ism. Beneath them is the deep-seated belief in the pseudo-systems of civilization, state, and the self. These are the deep-rooted causes of our ecological, economic, egoistic problems and sufferings. These systems can’t take responsibility due to the system flaw of “falsity.”

Therefore, each and every one of us must find truth and peace in heart and life, rather than in matter and power, and take responsibility for everyone, including other generations and species. All our karmas (habits, institutions, systems) must be reexamined, renewed, and reoriented. Thus our practice is crucial here and now, constantly and continuously.
