Crystal Clear Calm

Good morning!

When we sit in zazen, we become calm and clear, hopefully crystal clear and calm. We know the temperature today is going up to 100 degrees, with the heat index becoming 111 degrees, but we must also see into the far future and far away more calmly and clearly.

In Japan, typhoon No. 6 is bringing heavy rain, which may impact the nuclear disaster sites also, dropping more radiation and flooding the contaminated water. Recently more than five hundred contaminated cattle were found across Japan, having eaten contaminated grass.

The government wanted to maintain its position that nuclear power is safe, concealing inside information. The cattle farmers didn’t know the danger, and even those who suspected had to sell their beef in order to survive. We are so shortsighted. The most shortsighted way is selfishness.

In this way we create global warming, more typhoons, tornados, hurricanes, nuclear disasters, mass extinction and so forth. And still we do not see far enough, do not act well enough. That is why we need to sit down, clear and calm, to see holy truth and to walk a holy path.
