Becoming Buddha

Good morning!

Now we have a clear and cool sky and beautiful stars. Starting today, zen practitioners all over the world are starting the Rohatsu sesshin, one week of intensive sitting, some without lying down, to commemorate the Buddha’s awakening on the 8th of December.

Zen is not humans’ use of meditation; but the transcending of humans and karmas. When we reflect the human world, we see catastrophic problems such as nuclear weapons and plants, global warming, and mass extinction, caused by humans with the triple poisons.

Humans cannot solve these problems, because they are self-centered and take them as a matter of course. So, we need to stop karmas and see what we need to do. So, let us reflect on what this practice means and what it means to become buddha.
