Hearken to the Heart Mountain

Good morning!

We are fortunate to be able to sit in truth and peace amidst the heat wave. I received copies of the latest issue of the Interreligious Insight magazine. Some of you read an article titled “The Legacy of Heart Mountain,” written by Dr. Mori (translated by me and edited by Erin). People at the Heart Mountain concentration camp copied Buddhist scriptures on stones, one letter per stone, and buried them in drum cans under the earth.

Hundreds of thousands of people were put into concentration camps without good reason. We know several million people were put into concentration camps and gassed to death without grounds. A hundred million people were enslaved, traded, and mistreated without good reason. More than a hundred million people were killed in WWII. Now humans are causing global problems such as mass irradiation and extinction.

So, to be born as a human being is not necessarily fortunate. To meet the awakened way and live the awakened life is fortunate not only for them, but also for all. We must listen to the truth in stones, mountains, and the great earth – the truth inscribed in everything. Hearken to the Heart Mountain and mountain heart! Hearken to the great earth heart and hold on to it, becoming truth and peace, never a tiny tyrant nor a pyramidal power!
