Being outside the words
Uttered and left behind,
They’ve not been retained
In the traces of brushes.
Furyū-monji-wo eizu
Iisuteshi
Sono koto-no-ha-no
Hoka-nareba
Fude-nimo ato-wo
Todome-zari-keri
詠不立文字
謂すてし
其言葉の
外なれば
筆にも跡を
留めざりけり
