Solid Serene State

Good morning!   This morning’s top news from Japan was on the Tokyo High Court’s verdict of the unconstitutionality of unequal vote values – up to 2.43 times the value of a single vote – not voiding last December’s election. The plaintiffs are going to appeal to the Supreme Court to enforce the verdict and void the election.   We have problems of manipulating elections by men, monies, machines, manufacturers, media, etc. in many places and at any time. But when we sit solid and serene, we can enjoy the solid and serene state in free full function with pure peace and prognosis here and now, this good place and time.   3/6/13

Buddhas’ Bodhisattvas’ Brahma-vihāra

Good morning!   We learned about a father losing his life, but saving his daughter’s life amidst a snowstorm whiteout in Hokkaido. He must have learned from his life the Brahma-vihāra, Holy-living, and enjoyed the Holy-abode or limitlessness of learning, liberation, light, love of friendship, compassion, joy, and equanimity.   It is the Buddhas’ and Bodhisattvas’ Brahma-vihāra, based on the Dharma of Dependent Origination, intimately intertwined, selfless, supramundane Dharma-dhātu, which is diametrically opposite to selfishness. What would have been the consequence, if he had cultivated and verified the opposite way world?   3/5/13   Note: Four Brahma-vihāra = Four Limitlessnesses of friendship (mettā:Pali,  maitrī:Sanskrit, 慈:Sino-Japanese, ji: Japanese),compassion (karuņā, 悲, hi), joy (mudita, 喜, ki), equanimity (upekhā, upekśā, 捨, sha)   Enjoy the soft spring snow falling in the Great Triple Thousand Worlds (1,000 great worlds, each … Continue reading →

Dharma Dhātu or Karma Kinetics

Good evening! We have the full moon above the clouds, which represents the Buddha mind. When we sit, we can see the Buddha mind beyond the clouds of karmas. In truth, many people don’t notice the full moon is there. Even if we notice the full moon, it is obstructed by clouds of karma. We may by chance climb mountains above the clouds, but there are even higher clouds. So, we need to go to the moon to see this world. We think we are the most important beings, but from the moon, we can not even see ourselves, much less be remembered in the immeasurable vastness of time and space. The moon world, the Dharma Dhātu (Root, Realm), and this world, the karma kinetics, are totally different. We see things in the karma world and scarcely see things from the Dharma Dhātu. So, we must constantly sit and make an effort to view the world from the moon world. Otherwise, we miss the proper perspective and priority in pure peace and prognosis. Let us continue our sitting in concentration and consistency in pure peace. 2/25/13

Conflagration, Consummation, and Crystallization

Good morning!   I hope we can see the full moon tonight. I hope we can realize the Buddha mind like the full moon mirror mind, without covering or coloring – clear and calm.   The mirror mind world comes from completion of Kalpa Conflagration, consummation of constant concentrated cultivation, and clear cool crystal here and now.   2/25/13     Note:   Kalpa Conflagration (Kalpa-aggi, Kalpa-agni) is the conflagration burning the whole world. There are koans about it:   1. A monk asked Zen master Daizui Hoshin (大隋法真), “At the Kalpa Conflagration great thousand universes are destroyed altogether. I am not sure if this is destroyed?” The master said, “Destroyed.”   2. The Kalpa Conflagration exhausts in its total blaze even the tiniest particles. The Blue Mountain is in the white clouds depending on the arcane (truth).   All beings as karma-heirs have been transmigrating through the six destinies due to the beginningless night of nescience for kalpas (eons, billions of years) until the great conflagration of consuming the limited bound small selves. Thence only one attains the limitless unbound Dharma-body.   2/25/13
