  おはようございます！ 仏陀の時代には、「沙門（samana/ṣramaṇa）」と呼ばれる偉大な運動がありました。これは、サンスクリット語の「ṣram（努力する）」という語根に由来する言葉で、彼ら(沙門：修行者：努力者)はすべてを捨てて、遊行・托鉢生活を送り、在家の人々に教えを分かち合いながら、家庭生活にも森林生活（ウパニシャッドの思想家のような）にも属さない、（ヴェーダ時代の）伝統を超えた存在でした。 「沙門の生き方には、どのような果報が見えるのでしょうか？」『沙門果経』（ディーガ・ニカーヤ第2経）において、インドのマガダ国の王であり、（父を殺し王位簒奪の）深い後悔の念に苦しんでいた阿闍世王が、仏陀に誠実な問いを投げかけました：「出家者・沙門の生き方には、現にこの世で、どんな目に見える果報・功徳があるのでしょうか？」 仏陀は高尚な理想から話し始めるのではなく、慎重に段階的な修行の道を語ります――それは実践的で、人生を根本から変革する道です。まずは「持戒（倫理の確立）」から始まり、次に「知足・満足」、「気づき・明察」、「禅定（瞑想）」、さらには「神通（超常的な力）」、そして最後には「深い洞察と平安」へと至ります。 この道のそれぞれの段階は、未来だけでなく、この現実の人生においても具体的な果報をもたらします：――内なる安らぎ、明瞭さ、喜び、洞察、そして最終的には苦からの自由です。この経典は、ダルマ（真理）が「見えるもの、到達できるもの」であり、神秘家だけのためのものではなく、誠実にこの道を歩むすべての人に開かれていることを示しています。 仏陀が最初に語ったのは「持戒（sīla）」です。これは、沙門が「殺生・盗み・不倫・虚言・酒を断つ」ことを意味します。このような者は、行いと生活が清らかで、自己と社会における平和と調和をもたらします。 これらの倫理原則は、地球上の生命の存続にとって基本的かつ極めて重要なものです。そのため、1993年にシカゴで開催された世界宗教会議によって「世界倫理宣言」として採択され、すべての人類が守るべき道徳として発出されました。私たちもまた、これらを実践し、すべての人々が「聖く（全体健全に）、調和し、健やかで、幸せな生き方・世界」の果報を分かち合えるようにしましょう！ 有難うございました！ . . . .
