Good morning!
The Buddha talked about little desire, knowing satisfaction after the fundamental ethic, which is essential to be in peace. Unethical actions come from desire as against the five precepts and the problems as we witness.
Possession is possessedness as action and reaction. The Buddha found desire the root cause of suffering, dissatisfaction in the present state. Desire is endless, so is suffering, making everyone and entire world going to end.
The natural conclusion is satisfaction is in little desire. The least possession is clothes to beg food. The Buddha initiated people to his sangha, “Come Bikkhu!” Bhikkhu means food beggar with clothes made of discarded cloth.
The more desire, the more suffering. So, simplest life is without suffering and worry. He could live on joy, even not getting food. The Indian society supported mendicants. In China prosecution forced self-support sanghas.
Here it is difficult to go alms round, even dangerous to be shot by mistake. Jain Space-clad Sect followers live without clothes and begging bowls. We must adjust to the modern car lifestyle, living simply as much as possible.
Thank you!

King Ajātasattu and the Buddha /
👑 King Ajātasattu of Magadha asked the Buddha:
❓ He had consulted many teachers before, but found no satisfying answer.
🧘 The Buddha responded with a step-by-step path of a true samaṇa:
- Ethical discipline / 持戒
- Contentment / 知足
- Sense restraint / 護六根
- Mindfulness /
- Jhāna meditation / 禅定
- Higher knowledges /
- Liberation from defilements /
🙏 The king was deeply moved and confessed his crime (patricide).
The Buddha accepted his confession, but noted he had limited spiritual progress due to his past deed.

- Contentment / 知足
Santuṭṭho hoti kāyaparihārikena cīvarena… yathā pi nāma pakkhī.
He is content with robes to cover his body and almsfood to sustain his life.
Wherever he goes, he takes only these with him, just as a bird flies with only its wings.
2.
He is content with robes and food, like a bird with only its wings. /
3.
🍃 Simplicity, detachment, and happiness with little.
