These mind providing

Flowers in the space

I would offer to

The Buddhas in the Three Times.

 

 

Sōan-no gū-ei sanjisshu (33):

Kono kokoro

Amatsu sora-nimo

Hana-zo nao

Miyo-no hotoke-ni

Tatematsuranan

 

 

 

草庵之偶詠三十首 (33):

此心

天つ虚にも

花ぞなほ

三世の佛に

たてまつらなん

 

Note: 1. “Hana-zo nao (花ぞなほ)” has another variant reading “hana-zo nau (花ぞ

なふ).”　The above translation read this portion as “hana sonau (花そなふ).”

2. “Flowers in the space” is “Flowers in Suññatā/Śūnyatā (Emptiness),” as in his

Kūge (Space Flowers or Suññatā Flowers, in the tenet of all phenomena as empty of

entity or self substance due to the Dharma of Dependent Origination).

This poem, therefore, could mean:

1. This mind offers flowers, though empty of entity, to all Buddhas in the Three

Times (throughout past, present, and future).

2. This mind, though empty flower, is dedicated to all Buddhas in the Three Times.

3. This mind offers flowers, though both empty of entity, to all Buddhas in the Three

Times.

4. This mind and flowers, though all are empty of entity, are dedicated to all

Buddhas in the Three Times.

5. This mind offers all the flowers in the space or phenomena in emptiness to all

Buddhas in the Three Times, as they were and going to be awakened.

6. This mind offers flowers in the space, though not palatable, to all Buddhas in

the Three Times.
