Possession Is Possessedness

Good evening!

The news from Japan reported the opening of cherry blossoms, Kawazu-zakura (河津桜), ten days later than the normal one due to heavy snow. Here we can see the beautiful half moon, actually all around the globe, which has been continuing billions of years.

A special program from Japan featured the life style of Hanza tribe in Tanzania, Africa, the birth place of humans, continuing for ten thousand years. They live on joy on “today” only, not in the future, possessing only water tanks, pans, bows and arrows.

They have only loin clothes, simple branch huts moving six times a year, eating 900 kinds of fresh food, working for five hours a day mainly collecting and hunting their food. They have no age, calendar, farm land and domesticated animals.

They have no delusion, discrimination, exploitation, and extermination. The Buddha had even no bows and arrows, moving always living in truth and peace. Our civilization is now causing all kinds of problems with egoistic, economic, ecological ethical breakdown.

This is due to ego and greed. We possess things and become possessed by them, losing freedom and fullness. Hanza people said that they can live without possessions. We must find how we can live on joy in wholly wholesome truth, peace, harmony, and happiness.
