Good morning!
About twenty-five centuries ago the Buddha foresaw the destruction of the world
due to the triple poisons and had been striving every day to share with all beings
the way to forsake and surrender (we must surrender all to the Dharma-dhatu
anyway) them. He taught the lessons of “the world on fire” (seeing an actual village
fire and sharing the cause of it in terms of the six sense organs burning)
and “the son’s flesh” (the story of parents lost in the desert eating their beloved son’s
flesh out of hunger and thirst, indicating our sacrifice of the most valuable things out
of thirst, taṇhā), which we witness in global warming and the sacrifice of future
generations.
Mankind is now the culprit of the sixth mass extinction, more than a hundred species
extinct per day, with overcatching, habitat destruction, pollution of life systems, and
changes in climate, sea levels, glaciers, and coral reefs causing mountain slides, fires,
flooding, wars, starvation, genocides, and the defilement of bodies, brains, hearts,
hara (guts), minds, mouths, individuals, societies, cultures, environments, etc. Ego,
economy, and ecology are deluded, damaged, and destroyed by the triple poisons.
An artificial uni-directional pyramidal system of civilization has replaced the
natural cyclical Indra-net system of cultivation.
Bubbles and foam can exist only in the ocean, not the other way around. So, greater
Ecology (eco-logos: home truth, Dharma-dhātu, Indra-net) must come first, before
Economy (eco-nomos: home norm, home account) and Ego (I, Ich, Aham, actually
no independent, eternal Ego or Self), which are both dependent upon Ecology.
We must have a paradigm shift of economics and ego-nominalism. The Economics
of Craving and Greed must shift to the Economics of Contentment and Gift – as the
Buddha taught, contentment with less desire, and as the proverb says:
Happiness consists in contentment.
Ego must follow such economics, which is included in and must obey greater
ecological integrity in holy (wholly wholesome) perspective, priority, principle,
and process in space and time. Ego, economy, and ecology must follow the triple
learnings of sīla, samādhi, and prajñā (morality, concentration, and prognosis)
to counteract the triple poisons. Individuals, societies, economies, politics, cultures,
etc. must cultivate them to verify holy (wholly wholesome) harmony, health, and
happiness in true contentment and gift.
