Good evening!
We have so many flowers blooming around us, and now we can sit and enjoy the priceless spring evening.
Unfortunately, however, in Japan they have still the triple tragedy of earthquake, tsunami, and the nuclear disaster unfolding in ugly scenes. We have the news that it will take 50 to 100 years to cool down the nuclear reactors. We still do not know how to deal with them.
Usually at this time everywhere in Japan people are enjoying cherry blossom viewing, drinking, eating, singing, and even dancing. I think nobody will do such things now because of the enormous casualties and worsening of the nuclear crises with radiation, evacuations, etc.
Flowers make spring; spring makes flowers. Humans can’t make spring; spring can’t change humans. We seem only to make silent spring, fiery summer, hurricane autumn, and nuclear winter. This is because of human hubris with delusion, greed, and hatred.
The Buddha held up a flower, and Mahakashyapa smiled seeing it. Thus, limitless life, light, liberation, and love were transmitted from heart to heart. Flowers are pretty, pure, peaceful, truthful, holy, and harmonious always, with the whole universe.
Are there human minds that are beautiful, pure, peaceful, truthful, holy, and harmonious? We must sit down and see the flower life, the Buddha life, going beyond human karma.
