Good morning!

 

Now the moon is almost a half moon, changing from the fall full moon. Life is like morning dew on grass, swiftly disappearing.

 

Ten students and two teachers from the Webster Works Worldwide program came and cleaned our place outside and inside, making our practice place pure.

 

Dogen said, “To launch a ship and to build a bridge are also the perfection of giving. Managing livelihood and engaging in industries in their origin are nothing but giving.”

 

Sitting (zazen: 坐禅, lit. sitting zen) and samu (作務: work, lit. doing duties) are the two wings, or wheels, needed to fly and fare forward for all – neither one can be missing in Zen and the Awakened Way.

Note: Perfection of giving or donation (dâna-pâramitâ) is interdependent and integrated with other perfections. cf.
