Fragrance of Morality

Good morning!

The buds beside the Buddhas are now blooming, giving fragrance. This is the last day of the year. A TV program from Japan was broadcasting its annual Red White Singing Contest. A singer who had organized an aid campaign for the triple tragedy in Japan from China greeted viewers with the proverb: “After the cold winter comes the warm spring.”

This morning’s sun was bright and broad like the New Year’s Day sun. It may be because, officially, we are already in the new year. The Buddha said that moral fragrance spreads even against the wind, beyond time and space. We hope we can have the beautiful, bright sun and the blooming and fragrance of morality afresh, day by day.
