Good morning!
We could still see the beautiful bright full moon. As the sun comes out, the moon disappears. Now we see the vast blue sky. Out of the blue come clouds in all forms, colors, and sizes – sometimes white and sometimes black. Then thunderbolts and thunderclaps rage, causing hurricanes, tornadoes, and typhoons.
We live in such a world with tornadoes and typhoons. Sometimes black clouds cover all over, pouring and flooding. When all of them disappear, there remains the vast space and emptiness. Only when we sit solid and serene can we witness this emptiness of all – the five aggregates, the six senses, nescience, craving, formations, old age and death.
In the sun of truth things appear and disappear – even the moon and stars disappear. Now we have dark overcast, and maybe 99% of us feel something wrong in it. Out of the 1%, Jesse wrote an op-ed article in the Yes! Magazine. He made a placard with the description of himself. He wants to join the 99% and join the Occupy group as well.
When he found that not everyone has a second house, he discovered he was different from others; he felt awkward and hid his wealth. He found that the system is wrong and wants to join the 99% paying more tax, etc. People live uncritically in the system and support the status quo. They enslave themselves and others in the deluge of delusion.
The best way to solve our problems is to know that all of us are victims of the system. The political, economic, social, and cultural systems are our karma consequences; we need to change it. We have a pyramidal castle in the air now deluging and devastating the whole world. People want to climb up to the pyramid’s pinnacle – actually pent-up house.
King Milinda wanted to go out of the cage, even if it is made of gold. Confucius said that fame and fortune are floating clouds. Jesus said that it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man go into heaven. They are black clouds causing storms. That’s why the Buddha quit them. Yunmen talked about the gateless barrier.
If we make the gate in the constructed clouds, we further separate ourselves from the vast space of no separation. Even if we take down the pyramidal clouds, we still need to take down the black barriers we have built around ourselves. Only when we do this can we reach limitless life space of liberation and light, tasting amrita – ambrosia of immortality.
The Buddha is Avalokiteshvara (Looking-down in compassion) Bodhisattva. The Buddha came out into the world to save the world from destruction and to carry out the bodhisattva (awakening being) career in perfection of prognosis. He taught Shariputra the supreme in prognosis – shûnyatâ (emptiness) of all – thereby relieving all from suffering.
