Good morning!
When we come here and sit in zazen, we can hear the sounds of water falling and birds singing in penetrating pure peace.
The Buddha said, “As one must go through the sole gate to enter the haven of the palace, we must go through samadhi to enter nirvana (penetrating pure peace).”
When we get into the garden, we can enjoy beautiful flowers and become enlightened to to samu – weeding, watering (black withered flower buds could have bloomed beautifully).
The garden is the place where we cultivate bountiful soil and verify beautiful flowers. Only by cultivation and verification can we realize nirvana and bodhi(awakening).
