Good morning!
We are having rather unusually warm days – perhaps a part of the global warming. We have a lot of problems and sufferings, and so we must solve and sever them with our actual concrete actions, here and now, for all beings throughout time and space.
When I visited Kyoto, picked up a taxicab, and mentioned that I was going to attend the Global System Ethic Association meeting, the cab driver said that all kinds of things humans do are from defilements. I cautioned the conference attendees with his words.
Our defilements start from the delusion of ego, desires (thirst), and divisiveness (anger), the three poisons. That is why we need to aspire to the four universal vows of saving all beings, severing all defilements, studying all dharmas, and achieving the awakened way.
When we sit solid and serene, we can stop our defilements, see our situations, sever our defilements, and save all beings with the four universal vows – studying with the four embracing matters, and staying in the four Brahma-vihâra, holy abode, or measureless, and the six perfections.
