Transcend Tribalism: Two Modes of Being
Humans have been suffering, but are now causing suffering to all in the global life system, even to the brink of total catastrophe with the global problematique, interrelated problems such as global warming and mass extinction. One man can cause a nuclear holocaust, supported by masses of people with the delusion of ego, of individual and national life, of I, my, and my nation, etc.
People have been deluded by conventional common views in limited time and space, causing devastations in their communities and others’, in their own age and into the future. This is due to ego-centric views and values, perspectives and practices, by which we ignore others in space and time. We must replace them with eco-centric views and values, perspectives and practices, to serve and save all.
The Awakened Way teaches two modes of being, conventional and universal, and the necessity to shift from the former to the latter in order to solve problems and save us all from suffering. Universal (eco-related) perspectives and practices need to replace conventional ones (ego-related) and, further, the karmic mundane mode needs to be corrected by the nirvanic (karma to dharma) supramundane mode.
If we remain in our old, conventional egoism, localism, and tribalism, we remain in deprivation and are doomed to demise. If we are awakened and act in our new, universal ecology, life, and holiness, we can live in limitless life, light, liberation, and love. We can make a paradigm shift from the unnatural unidirectional pyramid civilization a natural cyclical life-embracing Indra-net culture.

Notes:
- The solution of the global problematique, interrelated global problems such as global warming, mass extinction, nationalism, war, nuke, dictatorship, dogma, discrimination, pollution, poverty, requires the global ethic (issued by the Parliament of the World’s Religions in Chicago in 1993 with more than seven thousand people from all religions and from all over the world attending), which is based on the Five Precepts (and the fundamental common elements in the Ten Precepts, the Ten Commandments, etc.).
- We must abolish a system that allows one or a few to use nuclear bombs to devastate the whole world, even to the point of destroying the total global system, together with the nationalism, nukes, war, dictatorship, discrimination, and dogmatism that make it possible.
- The Two modes of being, conventional and universal, are usually called two truths of mundane and supramundane. With regard to the conventional mode, sammutti-sacca, original Pali, literally means an agreed-upon mode of being; its Sanskritization samvṛtti-satya, covered/hidden mode of being, is a mistranslation. Sac-ca/sat-ya is a compound of being with a suffix making it an abstract noun, lit. mode of being, not truth. As for supreme/ultimate mode, paramaṭṭha-sacca/paramartha-satya is, literally, a mode of being in the supreme/ultimate sense. The former is local, limited by space and time, and the latter is a universal mode of being (views/values, perspectives/practices) beyond space and time. The former should be replaced by the latter, avoiding ego-centric views and values such as dogmatism, dictatorship, nationalism, homo-centrism, etc.
- “The Dharma (Norm/Law/Truth/Ethic) of all dharmas (forms/phenomena/ truths/ethics)” is Dependent Co-origination, i.e., all phenomena are interdependently co-originated on limitless causes and conditions (similar to the Law of Causality, but deeper and wider – beyond conventions, conceptions, objects, etc.). This means that we are interrelated with other beings (other species, elements, stars, etc.), and relatives to each other, and that we must therefore live together harmoniously and strive to make a wholly wholesome world to become harmonious, health, and happy.
- A paradigm shift from our artificial, unilateral pyramidal civilization to a natural, cyclical Indra-net life culture for sharing life, heart, and harmony with the five blisses (awakening, freedom, equality, friendship, and peace) is essential to solve the global problematique. Culture is the cultivation of our potential in truth, goodness, beauty, and holiness (cf. sciences, philosophies, arts, and religions).

部族主義を超越せよ：二存在様態
人間は苦しんできた、が今や地球生命系の一切を苦しめ、地球温暖化、大量絶滅等の相互に関連する地球問題群で全体破局の瀬戸際に至ろうとさえしている。一人の人間が個人的、国家的生活の我、我・我所（有）、我国など、の迷妄の大衆に支えられて核ホロコーストを惹き起すことが出来る。
人々は限られた時空の慣習的で普通の見方に惑わされて、自らの時代から未来に向かい自らの共同体と他者のそれに惨害を起こす。これは我中心の見方と価値、見通しと実践に依るが、それは時空中の他者を無視している。私達はそれらを一切に奉仕し救う為に生態中心の見方と価値、見通しと実践に変えなければならない。
覚道は問題を解決し私達一切を苦から救う為に、慣習的と普遍的の二つの存在形態と、前者から後者に転換する必要を教えている。普遍的（エコ関連）見通しと実践は慣習的（エゴ関連）のそれに換え、更には業の世俗様態を涅槃（業から法）の超世俗的様態に換える必要がある。
もし私達が古い慣習的な自己中、地方主義、部族主義に留まるなら、私達は剥奪に留まり破滅の運命にある。もし私達が新しい普遍的な生態、生命、聖性に目覚め活動するなら、私達は無量寿、無量光、無量自由、無量愛に生きることが出来る。私達は不自然一方向の金字塔文明から自然循環的な命帝網文化に枠組転換出来る。

註：
- 地球問題群、地球温暖化、大量絶滅、国家主義、戦争、核、独裁、独断、差別、汚染、貧困の様な相互に関連した地球諸問題、は（1993年シカゴで世界中から諸宗教の七千人を超える人々が集まった世界宗教会議により発出された）地球倫理を必要とするが、これは五戒（と仏教他の十戒の基本的共通要素）に基づいたものである。
2. 私達は一人や少数の人が、国家主義、核、戦争、独裁、佐s別、独断をもって、全世界を破壊し、全地球系を破滅させるに至る極点にも到る核爆弾の使用を可能にするような事を許してはならない。
3. 慣習的と普遍的の二存在様態は通常世俗（俗諦）と超世俗（真諦：超俗諦）の二諦（真理）と呼ばれている。慣習的様態は元のパーリ語ではsammutti-saccaで字義通りには存在の（特定地域・時代の人間の）合意した様態であり、そのサンスクリット語化はsamvṛtti-satya、字義通りでは被覆/隠覆様態であるが（隠されてはいないが地域・時代に限定的）、誤訳である。Sac-ca/sat-yaは存在（sat）に抽象名詞を創る接尾語（ya）のついたもので、存在様態であり真理ではない。最上/究極様態：paramaṭṭha-sacca/paramartha-satyaは字義通りには最上/究極の意味での存在様態を意味する。前者は時空に制限された地方的なものであり後者は時空を超えた普遍的存在様態（見方/価値、見通し/実践）である。前者は、独断、独裁、国家主義、人間中心主義の様な我中心の見方と価値を避ける為に後者に取って代わられるべきものである。
4. 「諸法（dharma: form/phenomena/truth/ethic）の法（Dharma: Norm/Law/Truth/Ethic）」は縁起、即ち、一切現象は無量の原因と条件により因縁生起するということです。これは、私達、人間、は他の存在（他種、元素、星など）と相関し互いに相対であり、だから、共に調和して生き、調和的、健康、幸福になる為に全体健全な世界を作らなければならないということを意味する。
5. 私達の人工的で一方向の金字塔文明から命・心・和の分かち合いによる五福（覚醒、自由、平等、友情、平和）をもつ自然的で循環的な命帝網文化への枠組転換が地球問題群を解決する為には必須である。文化は私達の真善美聖(参考：諸科学、諸哲学、諸芸術、諸宗教)における潜在能力を修養することである。
