Following the previous photos of Kawazu-zakura (Kawazu Cherry), Mr. Noriyuki
Otsuka kindly sent me and JUMP (Japan United for Ministry of Peace) listserve
members the following one with a mejiro (Japanese white-eye, Zosterops japonicus)
whose eyesight aligned with his camera. He also sent us the recording of the first
singing of uguisu (Japanese Nightingale, Japanese Bush Warbler) on February 22.
Uguisu sings beautifully, identified as singing “Hō Hokekyō (Dharma, Lotus Sutra).”
You are lucky, if you see and hear cherry blossoms and uguisu singing as you have
“ume-ni uguisu” (Japanese Nightingale with Cherry). You have both here now!

(I regret that I can not share his picture of a girl student with abundant cherry
blossoms blooming with her heartful smile due to the precaution for her identity.)
…………
My regret above was relieved by her special permission through Mr. Otsuka, which
I found in my email box this morning after I came back from our Sunday sittings
and service. Please appreciate the blooming (咲: read as bloom and laugh/smile) of
cherry blossoms and her heartful smile as if cherry smiling for your heartfelt
s-mile-s!
