Good morning!
Now we have spring like sunlight and a silent peaceful world especially after sittings. Unfortunately, however, beside this peaceful world we have a lot of problems and sufferings all over the human world.
Last night I watched the live Occupy Oakland broadcast. Hundreds of people were hand-tied. Mothers from Fukushima and hundred of protesters gathered at the Ministery of Economy, Trade and Industry against its taking down their tent, in success and no arrest.
I saw a video of a doctor, Tetsu Nakamura, creating a canal and farmland in the drought-stricken Afghanistan now producing food for two hundred thousand people. More than a hundred thousand of military men invaded it and killed more than ten thousand people.
He said, “People need water and food. War and violence never solve problems.” Why can’t that many military men work like him and attain appreciation rather than animosity, killing so many innocent people including children and women with wide condemnation?
I also read an article by an American in the Forbes, advising that this country should give back Okinawa to Okinawans, which have been occupied more than half a century with many terrible stories. The U.S. has almost a thousand military bases all over the world.
Why do we need military bases, nuclear bombs, and wars? It is because we want to profit from them, essentially to protect bodies. Our bodies can be lost by heart attack, traffic accident, etc. anytime and must be lost shortly. Why do we commit crimes for them?
How can we solve all these problems including our own decay and dying? If we cannot see and solve our death problems, we fear and fall in vicious spirals of sins (separation) and sufferings. This is the sad, cynical cycle of ignorance and ignominy of human karma.
The power machine is mainly driven by money-military complex. As majority of people became awakened to this truth as in the Occupy movement, the pyramidal war will be lost. Police men, military men may think they are keeping laws to wage wars, but wages.
There are two kinds of goodness – defiled (âsava, leak/flux from ego) and undefiled goodness – selfish and selfless goodness. Wars, nukes, pollutions, mass extinction, etc. are all defiled (selfish, sinful; not universal, holy: wholly wholesome) goodness.
I watched another video about Kenji Miyazawa who worked for farmers, farm animals, actually for all beings influenced by Bodhisattva ideals. In one of his story the king – actually he – ordered to obtain the death acceptance certificate from pigs (for butchering).
A Christian minister in another video said that the neighbor in “love thy neighbor” is the most needy one and the neighbor must be known by the needs, not in proximity or relations. All the downtrodden in the pyramidal power system – pigs – are our neighbors.
Only when we find the truth and live with it can we see and solve birth-death problems of us as well as others. We can accept that we must die and see our ideas of the self are dependently originated on our perceptions and prejudices with no substance like dreams.
The universal truths and their results are beyond our self-centered views and actions. This sitting is to go beyond self-centered ideas, actions, and to solve all problems – birth, death, loss, parting, nuclear disasters, global warming, mass extinction and what not.
Unless we sit and stop our karmas, and see the universal truth, we commit crimes and can never be peaceful. So, we must practice not only in sitting but also in acting to change the world with injustice, untruth, wars, etc. Please practice and find out truth and true peace!
