Great Natural Happiness

Good morning!

Just before I came here I watched a TV program fromJapanon the Buddhist countryBhutan’s report on Gross National Happiness, not Gross National Product. At the time ofBhutan’s opening to the outside world in 1997, its leader introduced and the GNH Committee plan with these principles: the country is led by the best administration with sustainable economic development, preservation of traditional culture, and conserving the environment. It provides free medical care and education, which are fundamental to physical and mental security and service. Happiness of life and mind is the goal, not products of matter and power.

Balanced progress in physical and spiritual as well as inside and outside development is important. Prognosis in perspective and priority is essential. So, meditation is an essential part of education and happiness, which embraces and enhances general happiness. The GNH index was proposed at the UN Millennium Development Summit in 2010, and supported by 68 nations to employ it the following year. As presented there, happiness is the ultimate wish of all humans. Holy (wholly wholesome) happiness must be the ultimate aspiration of all beings. This must be the Great Natural Happiness.
